RiteMED was formed in 2002 by United Laboratories Inc. (Unilab) in response to the government’s efforts to promote generics as an affordable option for Filipino patients. The objective was to offer a portfolio of unibranded (i.e., single brand) generic medicines with the same quality as the product-branded ones in order to generate trust among doctors and other healthcare professionals.

It has been more than 10 years since we saw Miss Susan Roces on TV sharing a story about an old lady buying expensive medicines. This worried her, made her weep, for she knew even then that there are quality, yet affordable medicines that people can buy. This marked the start of her partnership with RiteMED, a partnership that pushed for the right of Filipinos to having access to affordable quality medicines. A partnership that seemed destined to happen.

RiteMED supports the cause of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation in assisting 1,200 families who were relocated from informal settlements and those who lost their homes during Typhoon Ondoy.
In line with this, RiteMED donated boxes of cough, diarrhea, diabetes, and antibiotic medications for the BayanNiJuan Project of the Foundation.
