What is this medicine used for?
· For the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, particularly those of the urinary, respiratory and gastro-intestinal tracts.
How much and how often should you use this medicine?
Cotrimoxazole 800 mg / 160 mg Tablet
Usual adult dose: 1 tablet twice a day up to 14 days to be taken in a full glass of water.
Cotrimoxazole 400 mg / 80 mg Tablet
Usual adult dose: 2 tablets twice a day to be taken in a full glass of water.
Cotrimoxazole 200 mg / 40 mg per 5 mL Suspension
Children (to be given twice daily)
6 weeks – 5 months old: 2.5 mL (1/2 teaspoon)
6 months – 5 years old: 5 mL (1 teaspoonful)
6 years old – 12 years old: 10 mL (2 teaspoonsful)
